Olde Holyoke Development Corporation’s Community Improvement Plan
LEARNING IN PLACE
Westfield State University prepared a detailed report about the impact Community Development Corporations have on learning in their communities, and heard community voices in Holyoke about a “Learning in Place” plan Olde Holyoke is creating. We are happy to share the report. Just click on the cover to the left!
Thank you to Prof. Marijoan Bull and all the WSU Students for their great work.. Thanks also to our partner on this project, Nueva Esperanza,Inc.
The mission of Olde Holyoke Development Corporation: Every resident of Holyoke deserves to live in a dignified home in a safe attractive neighborhood; and everything Olde Holyoke Development Corporation does is intended to fulfill that need.
We are a private non-profit company dedicated to improving housing for low and moderate income residents of the city.
We are a community development housing corporation that builds new homes, improves and manages a portfolio of multi-family buildings, and in partnership with the city offers loan and grant opportunities to property owners that need to improve their properties. We have a particular focus on the value of home ownership, both for the families we serve and for the social and financial well-being of the City of Holyoke. In four decades we have built over 160 units of housing, increasing the taxable value of otherwise blighted and neglected lots. We have helped improve the homes of thousands of city residents who might not otherwise have afforded the work through our neighborhood improvement program.
We are an engaged and proactive property manager.
